At the core of MEPA (Mos Eisley Port Authority), the New York-based group of Star Wars fans, are values that can be found in that special film series that brought the founding members of MEPA together not so long ago - friendship, charity and the desire to make a difference somehow. MEPA has become something special to those who partake in its events, and their offer of good friendship is open to any who feel the need to seek out like-minded people who just want to have fun. But more importantly, the charity work they do has always been a focal point of the MEPA mission, and the group regularly partakes in events for charity.
MEPA has a once-monthly meeting where upcoming events are discussed and planned - these events range from discussion dinners, costumed charity appearances, and trips out to various venues. MEPA has had dinners with a variety of cast members of the Star Wars films and in April 2004 proudly and successfully hosted its first convention, The Empire Fan Fest.
